Why Does God allow pain and suffering?
God feels the pain you feel. God hates the injustice. Read Proverbs 6:16-19
God is with you. Always remember that. God is always there through the pain and suffering. God’s presence is there.
He is a blessing in disguise
Romans 12:15 “Weap with those who weap”
Pain is the loneliest place to be, people who sits with others and gives comfort will help them.
Christianity is unique in world religions because it does say not that God sends just a messenger or a prophet, but in Jesus we have “Emmanuel”, we have God coming and being among us. In Christianity, God steps in the pain and goes one step further. (Think of how Jesus live and died for us)
Read Matthew 1:23 and Matthew 27:32-56
“God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specialty armed you to go through it, not without pain, but without stain”- C.S. Lewis
There is anything in the Bible that says you are going to live in a pain free life, if you do it all right or if you do it your way
We live in a western modern world culture that says you should have a right to live pain free and we have so many ways of doing it. We (society) have transferred that in our Christian faith.
Some pain believe it or not is helpful. The worst pain of all is alienation (separation) from God that automatically things manifest from. The deeper we come in relationship with God, the better we are able to deal with pain.
“The key to suffering is how we react to it, either turning away from God in anger and bitterness, or growing closer to him in trust and confidence.”- Billy Graham
“A world without suffering is a world without life”- Keith Azzopardi
Why should we forgive?
Because God through Christ has forgiven us and the way we have been given forgiveness, he wants us to extend that to others so that we can be free and we can be heal so that it wont destroy us.
You need to be in a state of forgiveness, a state of being. Live differently than what you are right now
Read Matthew 18:21-35
Forgive is difficult and hard, but not immediate. Forgiveness has to be in the inside of your heart. Forgiveness is a willful decision, but not a feeling. When you don’t forgive you hurt yourself. It causes pain.
Read Psalm 103:12 and Micah 7:19
“The gift of forgetting is the gift of forgiving”- Genesis 41:51
“Don’t reduce the person to the offense” You should forgive others because he forgives us.
The Pain of Not Forgiving
Grace: God’s love toward forgiveness and us. It means getting of what you don’t deserve
God can only allow us to forgive. God gives us the Holy Spirit so that we are able to do things that he asks us to do
Read Matthew 6:12
“Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a permanent attitude.”-Martin Luther King Jr.
God has forgiven everybody
We are forgiven and he wants to use us for his kingdom
Read Luke 6:27
As a follower of Christ, it is a command to forgive others
1 John 3:9-10
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your father in heaven may forgive your sins”- Mark 11:25
“…God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them… so that in him we might become righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:19,22
(New International Version)
(Based on forgiveness) “Not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”
What’s up with seventy times seven?
Seven is the number of completion, a whole number. Jesus uses the hyperbole of seventy times seven and it is a number that is forever. He is literally trying to say that we got to live in a lifestyle relationship with him where we are always receiving forgiveness and always offering forgiveness.
Do we have to forgive to be forgiven?
Yes, but only until we receive that Christ in our life and the sacrifice and we will fully understand and have the ability to forgive.
If you walk into the forgiveness it will free you up to be the person that God wants. God is looking at your future.
If you don’t know how to forgive then you wont know how to receive forgiveness, if you have a tendency of holding grudges, you will not believe that God can forgive you.
